Escape from Freedom
Rafael is a French woman who travels the world, never staying in one place for long. She doesn't form attachments to cities or people. However, at times, she is open to engaging in brief relationships in a new city. She arrives in Lviv and meets Yulia, who is 10 years younger than her. Yulia falls in love and becomes attached to Rafael. They spend wonderful moments together, exploring the Carpathian Mountains. However, both of them eventually realize that this cannot last. The film explores the theme of attachment in relationships and delves into profound existential questions. Rafael embodies experience and time, while Yulia represents youth and naive, sincere perspectives on the world. Rafael constantly changes cities and relationships, possibly trying to escape from herself. Yulia matures through a significant yet traumatic experience. The film also raises questions about existence in the moment, a concept often forgotten as we rush into the future or nostalgically reminisce about the past. The film is shot in an experimental style, featuring improvisation and non-professional actors.
