ROUND GLASSES
"Culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs" - Thomas Wolfe.
Where do you search for answers when nothing helps? In culture. What's our compass in this complicated and rapidly changing world? Classic books, humanistic ideals. Isn't it something the world is based on? However, it is only when something as horrific as a full-scale war in Ukraine happens that one can truly test the truthfulness of one's beliefs. And does what is recited in books correlate with real life? Or is it completely different?
During the war in his native country, the director travels from Ukraine to Germany, a country he admired for so long, to present his film at a festival. On his way to this "different peaceful world" he undergoes a profound transformation, reassessing his views on the "better and worse" countries and overcoming his Ukrainian inferiority complex.
